Parking , is it outside the house and is there room for 2 cars ?

Off Road parking is available directly in front of the property on a driveway which could accommodate two small cars or one average family car. I managed to park a three tonne truck on the drive the day we moved in.

We have two small dogs , which would be caged when we are out – would that be acceptable ?

We request that pets are not left alone unsupervised within the accommodation

We enjoy eating out, are there any good pubs within walking distance?

There are several excellent pubs within 5 mins walk, including the Foc’sle, The Dolphin. The dolphin does excellent seafood. The Foc’sle does great large meals. But a few minutes further away (about ten minutes easy stroll) is the Pack o’ Cards, for a really excellent meal. Also The Quackers Restaurant at the george and Dragon is well recommended. Then if you want a short car journey I would also recommend the Globe & the Sawmill in Berynarbour; and if you want to work up an appetite with a walk then there is the Hunters Inn, at the Heddon Valley, for an excellent blow out lunch. Also you should try the Harbour Deli (5 mins walk away on Borough Road) for breakfast, lunch or really excellent Sandwiches to take out for the day.

Is the situation of the house suitable for elderly parents (75-80 years)? Is it on a steep hill from the village centre?

Access from the village centre is almost completely flat. It is a very easy walk to the shops. Hangman path runs from the corners of Sue’s general store, back to a line of properties, then round a 90 degree corner and continues to the public car park before it becomes a steep climb up to Little Hangman Hill. Primrose Brae, is located at the first corner, where the path is still flat. The accommodation sits at the foot of little hangman hill. The access to the village is perfectly flat, but the path leading from the house up hangman hill is a steep climb. The property benefits from its location, since the main living areas is on the first floor above the flat access to the garage. Giving excellent views from the windows and balcony accross the rooftops of the village.

I use a stick as I have mobility problems. Are there a lot of stairs ?

The property is level with the village centre and a very short walk to the shops and beach. The stairs are wide and easily managed; the balcony is accessed directly from the lounge making it very convenient for those with limited mobility. Of all the properties i have stayed in this property has the widest and easiest stairs to manage. From the Lounge to the bedrooms is just one flight of broad well lit stairs, with sturdy banister rail.

Do you accept any other pets?

Well behaved pets are acceptable. Please contact us to discuss any unusual pets.

Does the house have a washing machine ?

Yes. Also a steam Iron and ironing board, a rotary line in the rear garden and an indoors clothes drying rack in case of wet weather.

What about groceries?

We recommend you take a few basic groceries with you – particularly if you are arriving late when shops are closed. A welcome tray is provided, with enough basics to get you past breakfast. There are several grocery stores in Combe Martin, the closest being Sue’s & Spar just 2 minutes’ walk away. But for late night shopping there is the Nisa half way along the village and the store at the petrol station at the top of the village. If you would rather just stock up once there is a large Tesco in Ilfracombe.

Is gas and electric included ?

However, meter readings are taken as part of the caretaker’s responsibilities, and very excessive consumption will result a request for a further contribution towards expenses incured.
